BENEFITS:

Stamina       Strength      Speed     Stride     Flexibility

Body Alignment        Balance        Overall Health

Hot Yoga’s benefits for runners are extraordinary!  If you want every race and every workout to count just check out all the ways hot yoga can improve your performance.

Hot Yoga is a self massage to every muscle in the entire body. It cleanses, detoxifies, strengthens, reshapes and improves your overall health like nothing else you can do.

Stamina

The stamina that you build through the hour and a half workout in Hot Yoga is as demanding and difficult as any race you’ll ever do.

The difference is you can do it every day for a lifetime and it doesn’t beat you up physically the way running does. For maximum benefit Hot Yoga should be practiced between 4 and 7 times a week. A good base can be built by practicing everyday for the first few months and then a great maintenance program consists of 3 to 4 times a week thereafter.

Strength

Hot Yoga builds overall strength in every muscle group – Particularly for runners. It builds the heart muscle and lung capacity, which is crucial for racing.

Speed

Your race times will amaze you as time and time again you shave off those precious seconds. Just check out Bobby's times lately!  The only thing that has changed in his training is going back to studio yoga - it's the heat that makes the yoga series work it's magic!  (and of course the consistency of your yoga practice)

Flexibility equals a Longer Stride

By gaining more flexibility your stride will become longer, more fluent and natural.  Your legs will get less fatigued, and you’ll naturally be faster!

Everyone that’s ever raced gets to a point where their legs get fatigued. By gaining more flexibility through yoga you will postpone that fatigue. Even with the buildup of lactic acid, by gaining this flexibility, it will be much easier to deal with, and your race pace will improve with all that extra energy you’ll have!

Body Alignment

Through Hot Yoga the body alignment that can be achieved will help prevent injuries and a natural chiropractic effect will occur.  Yoga improves your posture by balancing, strengthening and aligning every structure in the body to its correct and natural position.

The patella in the knees for instance will naturally be aligned as will your feet, ankles, hips, spine, shoulders and neck. You’ll even gain an inch or so in height – getting you over the finish line just that much sooner!

Balance

The balance becomes particularly important in cross country and trail racing. You'll fly naturally over the rough and uneven surfaces – which will prevent injuries. The balance and flexibility gained through hot yoga won’t guarantee you’re not going to eat dirt but  it sure will improve your survival rate!

Overall Health

Hot Yoga automatically inspires you to want to stay healthy. Your diet will naturally change and include healthier choices.  You’re not nearly as apt to get sick which can cause you to miss your training and racing schedule. You'll feel great, sleep better have more energy & be inspired to be the best you can be!

Racing!

If this isn’t enough to convince you how important Hot Yoga is to your running Bobby's race times will; and yours will too!

For instance:

Bobby's   Pre Hot Yoga   1999   5K    19:40      Marathon       3:25

   Practicing Hot Yoga  2004   5K   17:40’s     Marathon      3:05

Times Still Keep Getting Better in his 50's!

 5k  17:31       10k  36:32     Marathon  2:52

All his races faster, the only difference is Hot Yoga and of course, getting older!  Older usually = Slower.

Hot Yoga truly is the Fountain of Youth!

Just a note; when I was just doing yoga in the park and not going to the hot yoga studio my times began to get slower. I also noticed being tighter and getting more injuries. I directly attribute this to not practicing yoga in a heated room. I Haven't had an injury since 2004!

Time Constraints

If time constraints keep you from practicing hot yoga you might want to redress the equation. The base of a well rounded fitness program is the benefits gained from balance, strength, flexibility and a cardio workout.

100% commitment = 100% Benefit

If racing is your passion start with the foundation of hot yoga and achieve the benefits of a healthier, faster, well nourished, injury free runner.

You will not only be faster but the quality of your life, your races and your workouts will greatly improve - making running more fun!

You owe it to yourself and to your running to make Hot Yoga part of your daily workout.

See You there...........    or I'll beat you to the finish line!
